Times Square Alliance Presents a Major Public art Exhibition at the Crossroads of the World

The Times Square Alliance is showcasing different artists with a public art exhibit at the Crossroads in Times Square. The Times Square Show 2011 has four very interesting sculptures shown out in one of the busiest areas. Thousands of people are walking around Times Square every day which means thousands of people will be seeing these sculptures that aren't normally there. These out of place sculptures will be noticed since they are normally not there. I think these sculptures will draw tons of attention. With all this attention, these artists will be gaining the interest of people who normally wouldn't see their work or go to a museum. They will be exposed to something that they aren't use to and might like the sculptures. There are tons of people being exposed to the art in Times Square, so these artists will become so much more popular than they once were. Not only will people like them but they will be interested and want more. This will help not only the artists, but also museums. People who don't normally go to museums might start going now. Putting this in the public opens many doors to the artists and different businesses and museums for them to make more money and to have more interest.

I agree that with the increase popularity of the artists, museums will profit. The scullptures are placed at a very important place in Times Square, ensuring that many people will see them. As their popularity spreads amongst the people, the artists too will see profit from their popularity.

If these people are walking around Times Square looking at the show, the numerous businesses around the exhibit will see an increase in the number of customers. You only look at an exhibit for so long, therefore people will have to find something else to do to fill their time. The entire city will benefit from the exhibit. Although native New Yorkers will also observe the show, the tourists from out of town will undoubtedly need some form of transportation. Tourists who can afford taking taxis everywhere will help boost the income of the drivers. The public transportation system will see a profit from those buying ‘one-time’ tickets. And finally, those that drove in from neighboring states, and natives with their own cars, will most likely have to pay for parking at some point.

I agree with Elizabeth. I think all of the businesses will benefit from the exhibit. People will travel to come see the exhibit, and it will bring in a lot of new customers to New York. Not only is it good for all of the artists involved in the exhibit, but it's also good for all of the enitre city of New York. It's also a pretty cool exhibit.

Elizabeth made a very good point about this article. I realized the artists would benefit greatly from this public exhibit, but I never thought of all the surrounding businesses. Elizabeth makes a very valid point about the surrounding businesses. After looking at an exhibit, people won't want to go far to eat or drink, or want to leave Times Square at all.
The public transportation will also play a big roll in New York because not many people drive there. I am sure a few people will drive in, but not as many as those who use public transportation.

The point made by Elizabeth is very correct. Not only will the artists and museums, but will help New York City as a whole. New York City is one of the most prolific cities when it comes to advertising. The art displayed in the middle of Times Square is just another addition to the mass advertising. The artist benefits from this for a simple reason: many people are getting exposed to his work. It is up to the viewer whether or not he enjoys the artwork enough to go visit an art museum. It definately benifits the city because it is bringing more people and more money by way of visiting artwork in the heart of their city. The constant crowds in Times Square will undoubtedly help bring to light the artists' work and bring more people to visit the art.

I agree with Elizabeth, I believe there is much to be gained by placing this art museum in such a populated and busy place. Both tourists coming to look at this display, the businesses around the display, and the artists themselves will most likely benefit from this museums placement. Tourists will be offered a glimpse onto what current day artists are up to while they more than likely would not have taken the time to go to a museum in the first place. While the businesses will most likely gain traffic in and out of their stores as passer-Byers of the museum will most likely stop to wither get refreshment, stop to use the bathroom and see the stores contents and possibly find something appealing to that persons taste. Also many artists who in some cases may not have reached the public’s eye will be given a head start to opportunity. When before their artistry had no where to go, they may now be looked up on some of the most famous works of art because they are being seen by more people than ever before. At any rate putting this art display in such a busy area will most likely prove to be helpful to the economy.

In relation to what Kinsey said, yes the exhibition in the middle of Times Square is brilliant and will bring a lot of attention to the artists and surrounding restaurants. It is also very convenient for the tourists and/or natives to just be driving by and see an art exhibition. Usually people turn away from museums because it may cost a lot to get in or they just don't find any interest in it. But this exhibition is convenient, free, and all you have to do is walk down a street to see it. And because of the location it will get a lot of attention, like Lindsay said earlier.
