Starbucks App
http://www.betanews.com/article/Starbucks-expands-mobile-payment-service-to-all-US-stores/1295465526 Starbucks is making paying for your favorite coffee mobile. All the Starbucks in Target now work for the new app and 7,500 stores across the country. This idea is great for the customers. Everybody has a smart phone now days, so making an app is truly the most innovative thing a company can do, in my opinion. The Starbucks app is genius for its customers. This makes getting your morning coffee less of a messy rush and more convenient for the customer. They can just stick out their phone (which is probably already glued to their hand) and pay. Starbucks is not only increasing business by making it more convenient and easier for customers to get coffee, but they are also probably making tons of money from the popularity of the app. Apps on smart phones can gain popularity real fast, and almost become a trend. People ask if they have the newest apps and if the Starbucks app catches on, then it could be the new app trend. This really does increase business for Starbucks. The new app is a great idea for the company to make things more convenient for their busy customers.

Wouldn't going into Target to get your Starbucks fix be sort of a hassle? I would much rather be able to go through drive through and just pay with my credit card. But the concept is awesome. If only it were integrated into Starbucks with drive through.
I absolutely agree that the fact this is an app will push its popularity. People will want to download it and use it because it's 'cool.' This was definitely a smart move for Starbucks, especially with the emergence of new competitors.
This is an interesting concept to use your phone as a source of payment. Especially for the store that a lot of people use just about everyday. If every customer just uses their phone as a quick and easy way of payment, they don't have to wait in a long line in the morning. This could also increase the amount of customers because it is so quick and easy.
This app will allow the Starbucks in Targets to see an increase in revenue. Typically these are near the exit of the store. This placement of the stores follows the same logic of placing the candy bars in the check out aisle. Someone who would normally not feel a strong want to buy Starbucks without prompting, would see the store and the idea of a Starbucks product would instantly enter their minds. This app would make the customer want a product even more because buying the drink would be so simple. If the app does well at the Target locations, Starbucks will no doubt look into branching it out into all locations. If the app runs smoothly, this could decrease the wait in lines as people would take less time paying for their drinks.
My dad got this app a few weeks ago and he seems to love it. He gets Starbucks frequently and it really has made it more convenient. The only problem I see with this is that you still have to go in and pick up your coffee, from what I understand. This removes some of the convenience because you still have to find a parking space, go in, get your drink, get back out to your car, and get back on the road. Now this doesn't seem like such a hassle until you see the parking lots for Starbucks, they are usually tiny and chaotic. I think they need to figure out a way so you don't have to go through all of that and can just pick it up through the drive through.
I agree with you completely. This app could revolutionize the world as we know it. If every company changed to let there customer pay with there phone it would relieve some stress trying to find cash or get out there wallet. However this could also pose a problem. With a world going wireless it could make it easier for people to steal your money. So which would be better physical or wirelessly?
I have heard of this type of app with Chipotle. Although it may cause some problems, it will eventually lead to more revenue. This is a very smart idea to increase the demand of the Starbucks products unless for whatever reason, false requests appear. Both starbucks and targets could gain more money by this app, maybe even Apple if they require a fee for this app.
I think this app is great opportunity for Starbucks to increase business. Today almost everyone owns a smart phone, and most people get smart phones for their applications that are available via download from the app store. This idea for Starbucks to create an app is great for some extra cash flow in their company. Starbucks is going to make a bigger profit off of this new app because the demand of coffee will increase. The demand will increase because when people purchase the app, the only way for the app to be useful for them is for them to make purchases with this app, which will could very well increase the amount of coffee they purchase. This is an opportunity for Starbucks to become very successful because the apps are becoming more and more popular and like the Arthur said they can catch on quickly and become a trend.
I think the Starbucks app is a great idea, it will most likely increasing Starbuck’s business. Today, everyone has smart phones and ordering their coffee on a smart phone will most likely be quicker for people looking to purchase coffee. The lines for coffee at Starbucks’s are usually long and waiting in those lines takes valuable time and those customers could be spending time elsewhere. With the Starbucks app customers can spend their doing more productive things and pick up their coffee when it is ready also the coffee will already be paid for. This new app will most likely increase the demand for Starbuck’s coffee, because it will be more efficient for the customers and it will be an easier process to pick up their coffee. This app is an opportunity for Starbucks to become a more successful business.
