The Cost Of Living
When people ask me whats up I always say the cost of living. I say it as a joke but the joke is actually true. The prices to have the resources you need to live just cost way to much these days. Milk is like $3.25, Gas are like $3.33, and if you have a baby thats going to be an estimate of 250,000 dollars to raise til the age of 18. The main reason for prices being so high is the debt that The US has. We are in a trillion dollar debt and no country has a trillion dollars to give us to get us out of debt, that wouldnt help anyway that would just put us in debt with that country. China has issued us some money to kinda help us out but a trillion dollars is alot of money. We saved a dollarsfrom the day Jesus was born until today we still wouldnt have a trillion dollars to pay off our debt. One of the ways we could reduce the debt is add tax increase to the resources or just tax the higher class people more then the lower class. Being the fact, that they tax so much stuff already which raises the prices of FREAKING LIVING it make it hard for people to make ends meet and get the neccessary resources they need. So maybe they thinking about another way to decrease the taxes or just dont tax at all.

I feel the same way, the U.S is in so much debt and it’s really hard to get out. So therefore, in order for us to help us get out of the debt the U.S is in we could start raising the taxes on thing, or tax the higher class. But I feel that if you start taxing the higher class we would start to have problems. Why? Because the topic of unfairness would arise, I feel that the higher class would complain and we would have issues. I think that gas price prices are sky rocketing because we don’t have as much oil as we desire the oil is scares. I feel that this is why we constantly keep going to war, fighting over oil. Sounds dumb yet makes sense. I feel like the government should come up with a system or systems. Because when you think about the less fortunate you come to feel like it’s unfair to them. The way prices on our resources are going up are ridiculous. People have to decide whether to get gas or eat fro that night. When it comes to that cost and benefit, there’s something serious going on and it should be fixed quick.

I feel you, I dont think we should have to go to the gas station and be making life decision. Who cares if the higher class think they are being treated unfairly they dont have anything to worry about there rich. They should be taxed because Im pretty sure they dont want to government or the R.I.S to just come in and TAKE the money. So instead they should be taxed more then the lower class. Going to war over oil is good if the gas pays are low but in this today gas prices are super high, I think when we go to war with other countries they shoot up the cost of oil regardless. We shouldnt go to war for it we should workout a plan with them, they give us something we need and we give them something they need. All we need is to workout our money/debt situation and get it done by any means necessary, they need to just do it for the better of our money. Its just way to much money being used and nothing good is coming out of it. I agree with you something needs to happen and it needs to happen NOW.
I completely agree with what you are saying James. The cost of living is so ridiculously high, and the country is a trillion dollars in debt. It is also true that because of this debt, prices for goods are going up every day. The country should find some way to resolve the debt issue, and by doing so, maybe the cost of living would be less.
I agree with James on all his points except for increasing the taxes for the higher class. If you tax the higher class more then you’ll force that class to find a way to make up the money they are losing. The higher-class people, if they own their own business, will find a way to keep their profit margin stable by many strategies. They could cut wages, get rid of employees, or charge the consumers more money. When that happens people lose their jobs and the consumers end up paying more money for products which in turn decreases the amount of products being bought which makes the companies cut costs in some other way. It is a domino effect that could ruin the economy. We need to make up the massive United States debt just not by taxing the higher-class people more. The government needs to cut down on government spending and different welfare agencies, but if that doesn’t make up enough of the debt, then they should raise the taxes on everyone not singling out one class.

I happen to agree with James on imposing higher taxes on the upper class. We'd be taxing a percentage on everyone, which, would mean that those with a higher income would just so happen to be paying more, but that's because they have more to spend! Who, realistically, needs millions of dollars just to get by? Sure, that kind of money would be needed to live a glamorous life style, but when there are people suffering, how could it possibly be just to be living in the lap of luxury and COMPLAINING about their amount of contribution.
I agree with WATERBUG23 and James P. about the cost of living. When filling up my truck with gas the other day , i noticed that my total to fill up was almost 100 dollars which is rediculous. I also agree with them about putting a higher tax on the higher class citizens. But where we would come into problems there would be them thinking that we are being treated better and they are being treated unfairly. But it sounds like a good idea when you want to get rid of the trillion dollar debt hanging over Americas head. With all of the wars that ther has been and all of the people not paying their taxes im sure you can get a mental picture of debt we are in. All i am trying to say is , if everyone would just pay their taxes and then pay off any debt that they are in then we would not have to worry about this situation anymore.

I actually disagree about taxing higher class people. Just because they happen to make more money because they went to college and worked for it doesn’t mean they should be penalized. How would you like it if your hard earned money was taken away by a government with a severe spending problem? People should be taxed equally no matter what class they are, and the government should learn how to spend less. Some of the things they are spending money on are really not necessary for survival. When normal people run into economic hardship, they just learn how to control their spending and save money. If the government could do the same, citizens wouldn’t have to pay for something they don’t care about or want to spend money on in the first place.
Cost of living is a HUGE topic that can be defined in many ways amongst societies. Blaming the United States’ taxes is a way to start but if you feel like you cannot pay such amounts you can always substitute the good with a cheaper good or just wait until demand goes down so the price will go down. However you have to think, where is most of the taxed money going towards? The money spent was not only used for buying new technology in our life but they are also spent on wars and governmental help programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, FEMA, etc. I would say that these programs are actually helping many destitute people and they have saved many lives. If we only tax the rich, history will repeat itself and the government would depend most on the rich having an aristocracy and we certainly do not want to take a step backwards or take that path of choice. Another thing, if the U.S. is so expensive, why are people still migrating to our country? Yes the cost of living is expensive but I believe people already knew that yet many immigrants still come to the U.S. and spend the most amount of money because where they naturally came from they either did not get the governmental support or they couldn’t make ends-meet there. If you do not like it, you are more than welcome to explore other countries. There should be a change but with the increase of people and the baby boomers coming along, prices will have to go up.
