This article/video talks about American Airlines cutting jobs nationally. American Airlines has a maintenance base here in Fort Worth. The base is expected to close, leaving a lot of people out of work. The company is said to out source some of these jobs in order to save money and emerge a stronger and better company at a later time. What caught my eye was that, American Airlines is outsourcing some of these jobs. By the company out sourcing raised some moral questions. Saving money is what every business man wants to do, but at what cost? A lot of people will be out of a job because of this outsourcing. Many people knew American was going to cut jobs in order to save money, but these cuts are far among peoples beliefs. American Airlines should keep the creditably to it's name and keep the jobs in American even though it would cost more money

How could they keep the jobs here and pay the higher costs in the face of bankruptcy?

I think companies doing stuff like this, is why our country is one of the reasons why our economy is in such bad shape now. We as a country can't afford for more jobs to be shipped off, and even though the companies may make a ton off of these business deals, it may be lost in the long run. Since so many people don't have jobs, they need to cut back, and one of the first things people cut back on is traveling. When people travel less, less plane tickets are lost, therefore they lose money anyway.

American Airlines along with bankruptcy is a tough situation to analyze. While I appreciate your opinions, I have to disagree with some of them. Like Mr. Smith questioned, if we allow these people to keep their jobs, what good will that do to the already struggling business? I'm sure if you were in charge of American Airlines you wouldn't want to be dishing out the thousands of dollars to pay employees rather than try to regain stability of your company. That would just make the business completely fail and everyone, not just a small portion of people, would lose their jobs. It is not American Airlines job to support people when they are struggling themselves. This would be like me giving you a baby and asking you to support it even though you and your family are already stuggling with this economy on your own. The economy fluxuates and people just have to try their hardest to adjust and find new, more stable jobs.

Expect that they are a company, not a charity. Bottom line, they need to make a profit. If that means outsourcing, then that's what you do. They can't just continue business practices, however "right" they may be, if it hurts the company. Capitalism is selfish, which is fine, but that's how it is. Companies don't care about you, as long as they make money. They aren't around to help you.

Many in the comments speak about out sourcing being a smart business move and at the end of the day all they care about is making money. This is all true, and I understand a company's personal interest. I do not have a good reason on how company can keep jobs here. But when are we as a country going to stop outsourcing and try to improve America's business's? Many company's in America are doing bad right now, but if all of them conclude that they have to outsource to save money when will America ever get these jobs back in order to strengthen our economy?
