LOVE$$$$

LOVE, what is love? Nobody knows but as men we know the cost of it. On that first date you want to take a girl out to the movies and dinner. Lets just stay yall are going to see Paranormal Activity 3, so that’s going to cost you about $18.00 bucks for the tickets plus popcorn and drinks which is another like $20.00 bucks. So that a total of $38.00 dollars off the top and if she is a sweet girl she would want some candy which is an addition $4.50. You’re spending out $42.50 and yall haven’t even made it to dinner yet. For dinner yall chose The Cheesecake Factory, yall order 2 meals, a drink, and 2 slices of cheesecake. That approximately add up to $55.50 dollars, spending a total of $98.00 dollars on your first date, a girl you don’t even know that well. Some might say that not a lot of money but when it coming out of your pocket it’s a lot of money. So when you driving her home you better hope she not in love with you. If it true love let’s just say yall get MARRIED who know how much weddings cost now and days. The average for a decent wedding is $24,000 dollars with is a major deduction in your wallet. Being in love with a girl is cool but it’s also costly.

While a date may seem costly, there are other options. Dinner and a movie have a very high cost for an average highschool student, but substitutions can be made. There are other options that can be made to save money, and incread utility. Normal goods for making sandwiches could be purchsed from a local grocery store and a *free* trip to the park can be taken. The only costs would be that of the sandwich supplies and the inelastic price of gas, if cars were the choice of transportation.

as a girl do you honestly want to sit and eat at a park with a guy?
and a car is the best way of transportation when on a date reguardless of what the gas prices are because a guy cant pick you up at eight on a train or the community bus.

Opportunity Cost! The more money you spend the more likely she could like you! So for example... If you don't pay for her ticket at the movies she might think your cheap and could destroy your chances with a girl on a first date.

James P - Yes, as a girl I would not mind spending time at the park for a date. Also, since parks are usually a community location, walking could be another form of transportation. While some girls may not want do to this, many still would. Espcially if the guy had a dashing personality to go with the "Inferior" date. Neither of us can conclude how the girl would feel about this kind of date that would be the cheaper and more econaomically efficient choice, instead it's a case by case conclusion as no two girls are alike.

mrkennedy - The amount of money spent does not equal a greater amount of utility. While a fancy date is always nice, a great guy to compliment a normal date is always nicer in my opnion.

Ms.Dunbar,Not all community parks are a safe place to have a first date. Walking is a great form of transportation but walking around a gang infected park isnt the smartest thing to do you know? So a movie is alot safer to see then hitting up a park,I agree its a more economically choice but is it worth the price of your life?

I'd have to assume that if someone were to take a girl out on a first date, and you were to choose a park, it would be a safe one. If not you would probably not go there. On the other hand I think there are many alternatives to cut down the price. For example go to the movies during the day when they cut the prices way down. Also The Cheesecake factory on the first date is very pricey and odds are you are not in love on the first date.

I think that you bring up a valid point that women or love can cost a lot. However, I do agree with Sydney that there are many substitutes to an expensive first date. For example a trip to the park, or even movies at your place. Then when you are on the cheap date you can decide if she is worth it. If she is you can take her on a 98 dollar date. If not then you just saved 98 dollars.

@ mrkennedy I somewhat agree, yet you did state a valid point. It's polite to pay for a girls ticket at a movies, just like its polite to open the door for her as well. But all girls are different, she may not care that a guy didnt pay for her ticket on the "first date". She may not even want to go see a movie. How about college football on saturday nights with hot coco and a couple of snuggies? ;)
